You watch a trailer with everyone else and decide where that film sits on your timeline. Earlier than this one, later than that one. Nobody tells you the year, so you are going on the haircuts, the film stock and how the cars look.

Anyone can challenge a placement they think is wrong, and that is where the evening usually starts. Win the challenge and you take the card. Name the film outright and you earn a star.

Nobody sits out for long, a game runs about fifteen minutes, and it works with two people or eight.

How to play

  1. Everyone watches the same trailer.
  2. On your turn, slot the film into your timeline between the films you already have.
  3. Get it right and it stays. Get it wrong and it goes.
  4. Anyone can challenge a placement. Win the challenge and you take the card.
  5. Name the film for a bonus star. First to fill their timeline wins.

Only if you want to start a game for other people to join. Playing on one shared screen works without one, and so does joining a game a friend started — you just choose a name.
